Our goals in every hardscape
- 01
Build the base the right way
We typically remove 8–10 inches of native soil to establish the subgrade and install 6–8 inches of compacted road base, then add 30-year commercial weed barrier and ¾-inch micro-chip gravel for drainage and long-term performance.
- 02
Control drainage for longevity
Once the surface is compacted, we shape the grade and manage water movement so pavers, walls and transitions don’t shift, settle or fail over time.
- 03
Precision in layout and installation
Whether it’s pavers, retaining walls, steps or boulder work, we plan patterns, elevations and tie-ins with the landscape so everything fits clean and functions correctly.
- 04
Protect what’s already there
Hardscape work is loud and messy, so we protect existing concrete, siding, irrigation, plants and finished areas throughout the build.
- 05
Finish the details up close
Tight cuts, clean edges, consistent joints, proper filler material and installs that are level, plumb and sharp from every angle.

Common questions
Pavers, flagstone or concrete: which is right for my patio?
It depends on the look you want, how you’ll use the space and your budget. Pavers and natural flagstone offer the most patterns and textures, while poured concrete is a clean, durable option for large areas. We lay out the options side by side during design.
How deep is the base under your pavers?
On a typical paver build we remove 8–10 inches of native soil and install 6–8 inches of compacted road base before the bedding layer and pavers go down.
Can you work around my existing concrete and landscaping?
Yes. We protect existing concrete, siding, irrigation and plants throughout the build, and we tie the new hardscape into what’s already there.
